Buildings Magazine selected the Lithonia Relight to be included in their Top 100 Products annual listing, and highlighted the value of replacing old fixtures with more efficient solutions:

The 13,000-square-foot specialty grocery store is expected to open in the second quarter of this year at 79 Wolf Road, which has one entry/exit point.

It’s possible a short connector road could be built linking 79 Wolf Road with the adjacent building at 65 Wolf Road, called Newbury Plaza, where Panera Bread, Capital Bank and other retailers are located, according to town officials.

That road would enable traffic to pull into Newbury Plaza and drive the short distance to Trader Joe’s without getting back onto Wolf Road, officials said.

Another option already exists behind Newbury Plaza, where an interior road links the plaza with the Colonie Center parking lot. So, cars could also get to Trader Joe’s from within the mall’s network of roads.

Town officials emphasized a formal review of the Trader Joe’s store has yet to occur, and that the state Department of Transportation will make recommendations about accessing the site since Wolf Road is a state road.

The town’s director of planning and economic development, Joe LaCivita, and Mike Tengeler, planning project coordinator, met Monday with officials from Columbia Development Cos. to talk about the highly-anticipated project.

The town expects to receive a “change in tenant” application within the next two weeks. That will formally start the review process.

LaCivita said the heaviest traffic will occur in the first couple of months after the store opens, but it will likely level off before the onset of the Christmas holiday shopping season.

That’s when Wolf Road can slow to a trickle.
